<description>I have to disagree with your opening sentence, Alanna, when you say &quot;Childern DO NOT need 2 parents.&quot; Every piece of research I have read on this subject over the years says that they do.

<description>Children DO NOT need 2 parents. Many families these days are either divorced single parents or re-married step-parents. My mum grew up in a children&#039;s home because her mother died when she was 8 months old and her father (the sole provider) was called away to duty in the RAF. My dad&#039;s parents died when he was 15. This week they celebrate their 31st wedding anniversary. My parent&#039;s grew up without 2 parents for a fair part of their lives and they are two of the finest and devoted peopled you will ever meet so don&#039;t tell me a child needs two parents. My 18 month old son has been walking since he was 9 months old and talking since he was 12 months. I am a single mother and am proud to be one - my son comes from a loving home. he is well cared for and well provided for. It should not matter how many parents a child has be it 1, 2 or 14 - as long as s/he is loved, looked after and cared for - a child doesn&#039;t care how many parents they have!

<description>I couldn’t agree more Pamela. Thanks for pointing this out. As a result of being denied just one parent, the effect is that children also usually lose their grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and family friends. The results of the catastrophic failure of family law reverberate throughout our society – it’s certainly not just the children and ‘angry dads’ who are affected.

		<description>GRANDPARENTS ACTION GROUP UK

It is not only fathers that are denied contact in the majority of cases the grandparents suffer from loss of contact also (mainly paternal sometimes maternal) children are losing the love, care and support of families causing great trauma and distress to all concerned, and yes you are correct about the damage to our children.

Children are an integral part of families and the family is the security for our children, parents should be able to raise their children even if they live apart providing there is no safety issue, and grandparents also the wider family are their to help and support children and parents. Providing love, stability and security which children need to become well balanced adults.

We are very concerned about family life in our current society many people forget that grandparents are parents too, and we do not stop loving sons/daughters when they become adults. I am part of the Coalition for Equal Parenting

CEP.
